J.P. is the man responsible for all this you might say. He is the owner of Fort Bragg Cycles and has been causing trouble on his bikes for almost 40 years now. He started his shop back in 1975 when it wasn't so popular to have a Harley. He was more ambitious than your "average biker" and put his energy towards racing. He built two similar 61-cubic inch Sportsters® that set 11 national ET & speed records in the 1/4 mile.

As time went on and he got a little less young he took a break from racing his bikes and devoted his time to building hot-rod engines for other people. In 1999 he was given a great opportunity. A young girl, his niece no less, took his daughters dirtbike for a spin around the yard. She ended up gunning it and howling in fun at the speed and power. J.P. decided it was time to get back into racing…and here was the girl to ride his next bike.

J.P.'s Racing History:
J.P. began riding Harley-Davidsons in Pennsylvania in 1961. He started drag-racing Harleys in '66, four years before moving to California. Ten years later, after holding miscellaneous jobs and building a few custom motorcycles, he settled in Fort Bragg, California. He was home. He opened his own shop, building hot-rod motors for customs. In '84, he returned to drag racing and entered an AHDRA event in Sacramento. He won and was featured in Hot Bike Magazine.

He joined Drag Bike USA, and over the next five years he won two national events and set six national records in ET and MPH. He also built the motor for a racing buddy that set 5 national records in ET and MPH. In '86 he earned the # 5 plate and the following year, the # 3 plate.

By '89, J.P.'s business boomed and racing was too overwhelming to do alone. He decided to retire his motorcycle until the right person came along to ride it for him. Now he could concentrate on the building and tuning end of things.
